Argos Ltd.
Large UK based retailer that was traditionally a mail order house but now has over 800 retail outlets in the UK, Ireland and Spain in addition to a solid Internet presence making the company the country’s largest general retailer. Like so many such the company holds out a number of own brands but what makes it unusual is that it does not use “house brands” as such with the exception of Argos Value that they use for very low budget products and then only on one “value leader” in each category.
Rather the company has bought the brands that have traditionally been the best-selling budget brown goods brands in in their stores starting with Acoustic Solutions that they purchased in 2007, but more notably with the purchase of the Bush and Alba names from Harvard International in 2008. Note that even though the company is active in Spain it is strangely enough primarily targeting British expats rather than the locals.

Danish company that makes thin loudspeakers designed to become unnoticeable. These are not wave bending or electrostatic speakers nor are they architectural but rather unusually thin dynamic loudspeakers that are supplied with a wide variety of fabrics that blend into the surroundings or printed fabrics that make them look like artwork. The company also makes one model of a studio monitor that is specifically designed to operate in small spaces.
