Japanese company that is primarily a manufacturer of cast metal parts for the automotive industry but in that market sector it is better known by its initials or "AT". However the company has for a long time had a small high end audio division that for traditional reasons trades under the TAOC brand, that division manufactures speaker stands, hi-fi furniture, isolation platforms and high end loudspeaker systems.
Company originally founded in 1960 as Takaoka Industrial Co. and primarily operated as a manufacturer of precision machined parts, but increasingly became known for their casting services, in the latter half of the 1960's they were supplying turntable manufacturers with cast parts and later decided to get into the manufacture of tonearms that were sold on an OEM basis to Japanese and Western manufacturers but also under the initials of their original Japanese name or TAOC. This was successful enough for the company to form a separate audio division in 1982 and when the company changed its name to the current one in 1986 it was decided that the audio division would continue to use the TAOC brand since it was the only products from the company that had any presence in the consumer market. When the company initially introduced their loudspeaker products they were for a short while sold under the Coronet brand.
