German manufacturer of high end loudspeakers and audio utility products. The SilberSand speakers are all active speakers where each driver has its own amplifier which is fed from an DSP based active filter network that adjusts the workings of the filters and amplifiers in real time by using look ahead algorithms and data from sensors inside the speakers. But the most intriguing product from the company are the "FM" modules, a truly modular loudspeaker system where you buy a base that contains the power supply, DSP & crossover, then you can add bass, midrange and tweeter modules, all in their own baffle and with a built in amplifier, allowing you to build up a system ranging from a small bookshelf to a large tower with a symmetrical speaker arrangement.
Company was originally founded in October 1985 by Friedrich Müller and Ursula Luckscheiter, and was then called "Silbersand Müller & Luckscheiter GmbH", but Hr. Müller had left Backes & Müller earlier that year after losing control of the company.
