Taiwanese company that manufactures silicon chips. Best known for their networking and communication chips but the company has also made audio chips for a number of years, these are more codecs (eg AC97) rather than proper soundcard chips per se and are thus mostly to be found in computers. Realtek has been expanding into the multimedia field and produces chips such as digital TV demodulators, but more interestingly they manufacture the RTD series of SoC chips that are basically an integrated HD media player.
